Workers' Compensation Update for 2025
To legacy North Texas Conference churches:
As you know, the churches of the North Texas Annual Conference (NTC Churches) have been covered by a Worker's Compensation Policy through the Conference Policy with Texas Mutual.
As the North Texas Annual Conference merges with the Central Texas Annual Conference and the Northwest Texas Annual Conference to become the Horizon Texas Annual Conference, the Worker's Compensation Policy for the NTC Churches will expire on 3/31/2025. The current policy cannot be transferred to Horizon Texas Annual Conference, and the new Churches coming into the Horizon Texas Annual Conference will all be getting their own coverage.
The Conference encourages you to begin the search for an appropriate substitute worker's compensation policy as soon as possible, beginning with your own insurance broker.
Should you need assistance in obtaining replacement worker's compensation insurance, you may want to reach out to Lockton Companies, the Horizon Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church’s insurance broker. Lockton may be able to assist in placing this coverage or any other insurance your Church may need. They are aware of the timeline, and of the need for replacement coverage for the NTC Churches.
Please do not wait to replace this coverage. Insurance coverage for faith-based companies is getting harder to find, and it takes time to get coverage in place.
