At MidWinter, Youths Warm Up To Leadership Potential

Conference Council on Youth Ministry involved in all facets of planning annual gathering

Camp has the potential to have a major impact on the faith development of a young person. That potential increases greatly when youth are given opportunities to lead at camp. MidWinter is a camp offered in the North Texas Conference offering youth the opportunity to lead at the camp. Youth have an influence on almost every aspect of the camp from the speaker to the schedule.

The Conference Council on Youth Ministry and its 30 members work year-round to assist in planning MidWinter. The Council selects the theme, makes revisions to the schedule, gives input on the curriculum and, most importantly, picks the color of the shirts – which is the youths’ favorite part. Once MidWinter begins, the members of the council lead many of the activities and small groups that happen at camp.

For many of our CCYM youth, MidWinter is something they look forward to every year. The fact that they are allowed the opportunity to plan and lead an event for youth throughout the conference is something they take very seriously. Each year, the youth leading and those participating are blessed by this very special youth-led experience.

Youth interested in participating in council activities can learn more and apply here.
