The Central Texas, North Texas, and Northwest Texas Conferences, pending approval of the Southcentral Jurisdictional Conference in July, will become one Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Selection Committee announces a search for the Communications Associate for the newly named Horizon Texas Conference and invites inquiries and resumes for the position. The conference is committed to fostering inclusion, understanding, and respect for diversity within our churches and community. The Central Texas, North Texas, and Northwest Texas Conferences have been in conversations since early 2023 to explore the process of unification. Throughout the spring and summer of 2023, Bishop Saenz, along with clergy and lay leaders from all three conferences, worked together on a plan to unify the three conferences. Working together as one body with a unified vision and strategic priorities, the Horizon Texas Conference will be well-positioned to multiply Jesus followers following the widely anticipated adoption of new conference boundaries by the summer of 2024.

The Horizon Texas Conference seeks a dynamic and innovative candidate to support our communication efforts. The Communications Associate will provide support for conference communications channels, including email marketing, social media, the conference website and local church resources. This role requires a creative spirit and a high level of accuracy in attention to detail, as well as the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously and to recommend new strategies and approaches for continued improvement and effectiveness in conference communications. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with excellent writing and organizational skills, capable of crafting compelling messages and effectively disseminating information across various platforms.


  • Develop and implement a daily/weekly/monthly digital marketing calendar, inclusive of social media content, email campaigns and website updates.
  • Create and manage engaging, accurate and brand-consistent content for various platforms, including current and emerging social media channels, websites and print media.
  • Monitor conference social media platforms in real-time.
  • Maintain relevant, timely information on the conference website and partner with stakeholders and program owners on new web content.
  • Design and execute conference email campaigns and routine publications, including worship bulletins and seasonal ministry resources.
  • Monitor metrics for conference digital channels, including email, social media, and the conference website, and communicate insights.
  • Recognize and react to emerging social media trends and current events, creating relevant and/or responsive conference content.
  • Remain up to date on digital marketing trends, challenges and features to ensure conference content remains current and appealing.


  • 3+ years of proven experience working in a social media/digital media role is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Marketing) is preferred.
  • Professional knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube.
  • Solid understanding of analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong storytelling and copywriting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, MailChimp preferred.
