Job Description
Synergy Wesley Foundation seeks a part-time Program Director. We are a diverse and inclusive United Methodist campus ministry based at University of Texas at Dallas, with outreach to college students attending Dallas College and Collin College.
The Program Director position averages 20 hours per week during the school year (mid-August through mid-May), with a full month off for Christmas, and 5-10 hours per week during the summer (mid-May to mid-August). This averages out to 15 hours per week overall.
Priority will be given to candidates who are:
- Excited about the possibility of working in ministry with college students
- “Bible-nerds” who love deep exegesis, welcome questions, and can facilitate engaging theological dialogue with ease. We embrace progressive Biblical theology, and our students deep-dive into the text with a critical lens to form their own understandings and beliefs.
- Social and outgoing, and would enjoy hanging out on campus with college students, meeting new people, and inviting students to participate
- Comfortable and experienced with diversity, including LGBTQ folks, and have an openness to learning about the unique needs of our students and campus communities
- Entrepreneurial self-starters who are motivated to work with or without supervision
- Comfortable engaging in one-to-one pastoral care meetings with students when appropriate
- Experienced in leadership, with the ability to collaborate and empower others to co-lead
- Seminary graduates and/or have done deep theological and Biblical exploration
This position provides competitive pay for 15 hours per week, based on education and experience. This could be ideal for a bi-vocational leader or someone with a secondary part-time ministry or nonprofit position.
