Job Description
The Youth Director at Christ UMC Farmers Branch is tasked with the spiritual growth and development of students in grades 6-12. This position is part-time at 20 hours/week.
Responsibilities
- Creating, organizing and facilitating programming for youth on Sunday mornings, evenings and midweek.
- Organizing and leading annual conference retreats and mission trips.
- Facilitating and maintaining records for background checks and ministry safe courses for adult volunteers.
- Engaging the parents of youth regularly both in communicating the events and needs of the program as well as empowering them to serve in needed areas.
- Provide a listening ear to youth and their parents regarding issues pertinent to the youth and ministry of the church.
- Coordinate with Senior Pastor and Staff, including staff meetings, to insure opportunity for youth participation in church activities.
- Work with the Children’s director to ensure the children’s programming and youth programming have smooth transitions and cross-over where helpful and Coordinate and teach Confirmation process.
- Facilitating Youth participation in Sunday morning worship.
- Maintain a system of communication with youth and parents.
- Teach and/or arrange for teachers of Sunday School classes.
- Set or approve curriculum that is appropriate for each class.
- Plan and manage the annual youth ministry budget.
- Plan, coordinate, and attend youth fundraising events, such as the annual Youth Auction.
- Work with parents and youth, plan and implement a program of youth activities.
