Conference will help to create or enhance senior adult ministry

University Park UMC is hosting EQUIP, a groundbreaking conference that will offer best practices in boosting purposeful participation among active seniors, on Jan. 27-29, 2019. Specifically, the event expects to draw laity and clergy representatives from churches throughout the South Central Jurisdiction for a weekend of learning and reflection.

Rev. Dr. James Moore, formerly the senior pastor of St. Luke’s UMC in Houston, will deliver the keynote address on “Making Music With What You Have Left.” Other speakers include Rev. Joe Stabile, author Julie Yarbrough, education expert Dr. Linus Wright and Missy Buchanan, a sought-after speaker on aging and faith.

Early registration for $125 ends Nov. 1. The price increases to $150 thereafter, with conference registration ending Dec. 15. In addition to time with the speakers and lunch and dinner daily, participants will have access to nearly 40 videos and months of suggested programming topics to take back to their local churches.
