More than 7,000 homes were affected by flooding

The Rio Texas Conference is in need of our assistance. Here is a message from Eugene Hileman, disaster response coordinator for the Rio Texas Conference, regarding a recent flooding event:

On June 20 and 21, torrential rain hit the Rio Grande Valley in the Rio Texas Conference. More than 7,000 homes were affected by the flood. The conference is inviting Emergence Response Teams to assist with the clean-up.

We anticipate needing ERT teams for at least one or two months. Email inquiries to Hileman or Jim Street

The areas affected were primarily in Hidalgo and Cameron Counties, especially the towns of Mercedes and Weslaco. Several churches in the area have accommodations suitable for housing teams, including showers and kitchens. Restaurants are open throughout the area.
