Drenner: NTC Treasurer/Chief Benefits Officer To Depart In May
The CPA has led department through COVID-19, winter storm of Feb. 2021, the Boy Scouts of America settlement, disaffiliation
Christy Drenner, who has served as the North Texas Conference’s director of connectional resources, treasurer and chief benefits officer since 2021, has announced her intention to depart the position effective May 15, 2024.
An experienced certified public accountant and dedicated clergy spouse, Drenner has led the NTC Center for Connectional Resources through challenging seasons that included COVID-19, extensive losses in the winter storm of Feb. 2021, the Boy Scouts of America settlement, disaffiliation and the early work of unification with the Central and Northwest Texas Conferences.
“During Christy’s tenure, she has had to lead through tumultuous circumstances that could have easily bred anxiety in the conference,” said Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. “I have appreciated her sound judgment and foresight, collaborative spirit and unwavering leadership that have instead provided a continued sense of confidence and positioned the North Texas Conference well for the future. I am grateful for her efforts on behalf of the conference and will miss working with her and benefitting from her contributions to the Cabinet.”
Drenner will continue to be an active voice in the North Texas Conference and is glad to be able to lay a solid foundation for her successor, who will help establish systems and financial operations in the new, unified annual conference.
“I have always viewed my work with the North Texas Conference as a calling and have been blessed to work with such a fantastic team of committed laity and clergy,” Drenner said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to use my unique gifts in service of the conference over these past three years, and I am looking forward to participating in the vision that’s coming to life for United Methodists across North, Central and Northwest Texas.”
Drenner will continue in her current role through May 15, providing an opportunity to train and equip her successor. Later this week, the NTC, CTC and NWTX Conference will publish a job posting to fill the vacancy.
