Close To Home Project Ends In Jacksboro

On March 21, 2022, an EF-3 tornado hit Jacksboro, damaging hundreds of homes, businesses and schools. Thanks to the work of the Long-Term Recovery Team, a $1.4 million grant from UMCOR, donations and volunteers from the NTC and the work of countless people, the project — Close to Home — recently concluded with a dedication service at First UMC Jacksboro celebrating the completion of five new home builds. "What makes this particular recovery effort so special is that all the necessary and needed partners came to the table," said Jeremy Basset, the NTC Disaster Response Coordinator. "Sometimes it's the faith community, sometimes it's the government side, sometimes it's a little bit of either. This time it was everybody."
