Close To Home Campaign Nearing Its Goal
North Texas Conference has raised $147,000 to help Jacksboro recover

At the 2023 North Texas Annual Conference, attendees bolstered the fundraising effort for the Jacksboro recovery effort by $6,335. This brings the Close to Home campaign to $147,622, with just $53,000 needed to help us reach our $200,000 goal.
Since beginning our work last year, we have seen significant cost savings come about through the efforts of several volunteer teams from around the NTC and have been able to secure the assistance of the Mennonite Disaster Service, who will bring in a team of their volunteers to build five homes from scratch, starting in late November. Their contribution will cut the cost of each home by at least one half.
By the end of summer, we will have completed all of our repair and renovation work and will begin planning for the five rebuilds, each with three bedrooms and two bathrooms to meet the families' needs. The Mennonite Disaster Service have been wonderful partners for many years in disaster recovery work nationwide. For the Jacksboro job, they will send a team of Amish young adults from Missouri, rotating teams in and out on a weekly basis. The full project will last four to six months, weather depending.
What an amazing process it has been to see how the people of the North Texas Conference have responded to the needs of our neighbors “closer to home” and given so much of their time, expertise and resources to help the town recover so quickly and effectively.
