Ash Wednesday Across The North Texas Conference
Last week churches across the North Texas Conference marked Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent with special services and the imposition of ashes, a symbol of repentance and mortality. In addition to services in traditional sanctuary settings, a number of congregations gave the day their own spin — offering family programming and craft stations, conducting services in community parks, imposing ashes at school campuses or providing drive-thru ashes and "to-go" ashes for those unable to visit in person. Regardless of the style or delivery, all of these Ash Wednesday moments provided an opportunity to start the Lenten season with a spirit of reflection and a turning toward God.
