Addressing Youth Homelessness Focus of Luncheon

Kalee Wulfers of Journey to Dream to deliver keynote remarks

At the 2018 Annual Conference, the North Texas Conference Board of Church and Society launched an initiative to meet the needs of a growing homeless youth population. Our vision is to eradicate youth homelessness in the North Texas Conference by 2024 by educating and equipping church members who will meet the needs of homeless youth in their local context.

The keynote speaker at the Annual Conference luncheon was Dr. Ashley Lind from Promise House, a ministry that offers residential services and community outreach to housing insecure youth and their families in the Dallas area.

To continue our efforts, the Board of Church and Society will host a luncheon 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Grace Avenue UMC in Frisco. (The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 9.) The speaker will be Kalee Wulfers from Journey to Dream, which serves vulnerable youth in the Lewisville and Flower Mound areas through a variety of programs. It also houses homeless teens in Kyle’s Place, a transitional living community that equips these teens with vital skills for living.
