Job Description

Mission:  The mission of the Treasurer is to ensure accurate financial records to enable the staff and administrative committee persons to make sound decisions on programming and staffing needs. 


  • Have a working knowledge of accounting, fiduciary responsibilities and non-profit organization goals and objectives.
  • Have knowledge of other business functions including but not limited to purchasing, benefit & compensation, non-profit and United Methodist Church legal matters, risk management and reporting.
  • Be an accountant or bookkeeper or have experience in maintaining a complete set of books for an organization. A college degree, especially one in a business or accounting area, is desirable but not essential.
  • Be certified in and/or have excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, including the payroll module.


  • Maintain AUMC’s chart of accounts, including those of the church’s Day School.

  • Pay expenses, including payroll and associated taxes, and requested checks on time.

  • Track contributions and donors, ensuring donations are applied as directed.

  • Provide AUMC Leadership Board, Day School Board, and other committees with accurate and timely financial statements.

  • Function as the liaison between AUMC and the bank and other financial institutions. 

  • Be a resource to committees, staff, and congregation members.
