Job Description

Job Title: Director(s) for House of Hope, Executive Director, Legal Representative

Location: Puerto Lempira, Honduras

Ministry: Send Hope, Inc.

Time Commitment: Expected duration 5+ years

 

Key Responsibilities

· Sustain your ministry by proactively raising your own financial support for living and ministry expenses at the House of Hope, while contributing to Send Hope’s broader fundraising efforts through impact-focused storytelling such as newsletter contributions, donor testimonials, and occasional speaking engagements when stateside.

· Manage over 15-20 employees, up to 30 children, and the full operation and budget to support the Send Hope ministry in Honduras (House of Hope).

· Support children through access to medical care, education, mentorship, after-school programs, and attendance at local community church.

· Provide daily management of medication or follow up rehabilitation support from recent medical care or procedures.

· Work with local lawyers, government agencies, and other policy leaders to manage imports of containers and supplies.

· Advocate various needs for the children (physical, mental, spiritual, educational, identity).

· Assist in community outreach (e.g., food and clothing distribution, healthcare, education support and school supply distribution, local Habitat for Humanity operations).

· Collaborate and coordinate with medical teams and volunteers during their stay in Puerto Lempira.

· Communicate regularly with the Board of Directors, attend monthly board meetings, and provide financial and other updates to the Board of Directors when requested.

· Lead crisis management efforts as needed due to emergency weather challenges, medical needs of the children or volunteers, or other unforeseen circumstances.

· Organize storage rooms and care for supplies and materials.

· Complete other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

· A committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

· The ability to build trust, listen, and care deeply about the children personally.

· Cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

· Service oriented approach with a great work ethic.

· The ability to troubleshoot problems and be calm and flexible during change.

· Team player with a servant-hearted attitude.

· Willingness to undergo language training (if needed).

· Experience with Microsoft Excel

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous mission or ministry experience.

· Relevant skills (e.g. teaching, medical, construction, counseling, technology).

· Partial or full fluency in Spanish and/or the local Miskito language or the demonstrated ability to learn and quickly apply other languages in a new environment.

· Mechanical (vehicle) mindset and the ability to navigate facility and maintenance needs for the House of Hope.

· Experience managing a budget and payroll for employees or contractors.

 

Cultural Considerations

· Ideal candidates are a married male/female couple who are both committed and engaged to the Send Hope vision with a strong relationship built on God’s word.

· A moderate approach to handling political and religious topics is important to build trust with the children and local community.

· The ability to model a loving and healthy family unit and demonstrate what appropriate love and affection looks like will support the healing and growth for the children.

· Drinking alcohol, smoking, vaping, or the use of recreational drugs contradicts the local community expectations for missionaries in the area and IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

 

Support & Logistics

· Directorship includes housing, use of vehicles for local transportation, and orientation upon arrival.

· Flexibility to take up to 3 months off every year.
