Director of Music and Worship

Full Time with Benefits 

Purpose

The purpose of the Director of Music and Worship is to lead our music ministries in a way that glorifies God, nurtures the congregation, and supports the blended worship vision at Lake Highlands UMC. The director helps to bring people to the table of Jesus through choral and instrumental music, mentoring volunteers and working closely with the team of musicians under the leadership of the Senior Pastor to create a seamless, Spirit-filled worship experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the total music program of Lake Highlands UMC

  • Selects music and acts of worship for weekly Sunday worship services that includes traditional and contemporary styles

  • Oversees and works with staff and volunteers to select, rehearse, and lead traditional and contemporary worship music

  • Plans and implements special worship services for various Christian days of the year (ie: Christmas, Holy Week, Easter etc)

  • Directs chancel choir and handbell ensembles in rehearsals and worship

  • Leads children’s choir in rehearsals, worship services, and musicals

  • Prepares sectional groups through musical recordings and rehearsals

  • Mentors and equips volunteers to grow in their musical and spiritual gifts.

  • Attends weekly staff and worship planning meetings 

  • Oversees the music ministry budget, including music purchases and guest musicians

  • Participate in all special services, including Easter, Christmas, and funerals.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Accountability:

Reports to: Senior Pastor
Supervises: Paid and volunteer musicians
