Job Description
Position: Part-Time Minister of Youth and Families (20 hours weekly)
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Schedule: The nature of youth ministry involves evening and weekend work, as well as travel for mission trips and retreats. Weekly schedules will be flexible to reflect these demands while allowing for healthy boundaries and rest.
Position Summary:
The Minister of Youth and Families provides a safe, caring, age-appropriate environment for the youth of our progressive church where they can be spiritually guided, developed and supported. They will deepen the engagement of youth and their families in the life of the congregation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Youth (Grade 6-12)

Coordinate and run Sunday evening youth group (6:30-8:00pm) and Sunday morning youth Sunday School.

Select, order, and develop curriculum for Youth ministries.

Coordinate and lead mission opportunities, retreats, lock-ins, and other fellowship activities. Fundraise as needed.

Recruit, train, support, and conduct background checks for adult volunteers who mentor and lead youth ministries, ensuring all activities comply with MinistrySafe guidelines.

Promote camp participation for 6th-12th graders of United Methodist North Texas Conference activities at Bridgeport Camp like Midwinter Camp, Junior and Senior High Camp in summer. Recruit adult chaperones as needed.

Incorporate youth in worship on a regular basis.

Help contact graduating Seniors to be recognized in worship in May.

Coordinate the confirmation calendar, curriculum and teaching (Grade 7-9).
Families

Build and maintain strong relationships with youth and their families, both inside and outside the church walls. This includes attending school events, games, and performances.

Coordinate yearly Fall Festival.

Work with Minister of Children and Families to incorporate youth in Easter Festival and Christmas program.

Connect with new visitors to church with youth.

Foster a youth friendly environment in worship to encourage participation from all members of the church.

Work collaboratively with the church staff team to integrate student ministries into the wider life of the church.

Work with Minister of Children and Families to provide regular programming that engages the whole family, such as movie nights and game nights.

Hold parent meetings as needed.
Other Duties:

Manage Youth ministry and mission trip budgets.

Participate in worship as liturgist and Communion steward as needed.

Participate in weekly staff meetings and worship meetings.

Work with Minister of Children and Families to maintain the Family Ministries website pages.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, these areas and may evolve based on the needs of the community.
