Role Summary
The Associate Director of Youth Ministry partners with the Director of Youth Ministry to help lead a vibrant, relational youth ministry for students in grades 6–12. This role focuses primarily on middle school ministry while supporting the broader youth program through programming, relationship-building, administration, and volunteer support. The Associate Director helps create welcoming spaces where youth can grow in faith, build community, and experience God in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Youth Ministry to plan and lead weekly programs, events, retreats, mission trips, and summer programming.
- Take primary leadership for middle school (grades 6–8) ministry planning, coordination, and care.
- Build authentic relationships with youth and maintain strong communication with parents and families.
- Support volunteer recruitment, training, and care, including Ministry Safe requirements.
- Manage key administrative tasks such as communication, scheduling, registration, and record-keeping.
- Collaborate with church staff and participate in church-wide and intergenerational events as needed.
Qualifications
- A growing Christian faith and sense of calling to youth ministry.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the United Methodist Church and to First UMC Dallas.
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience preferred).
- Experience working with middle and high school students in a church or similar setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Schedule & Expectations
This role requires regular Sunday participation, weekday office hours, and availability for retreats, trips, and key ministry events. Schedule may flex based on ministry needs.
Typical Schedule
- Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (or later as needed)
- Monday–Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday–Saturday: Off, unless ministry events require (Schedule may adjust based on programming needs.)
