Job Description

The Student Ministry Director provides leadership, vision, and care for the spiritual growth and discipleship of students in grades 6–12. This role includes planning and leading weekly gatherings, special events, retreats, and fostering relationships with students and their families. The ideal candidate is a committed follower of Jesus with a passion for helping young people grow in faith.

Part-time: ~25 hours per week, Sundays required 

Pay: $22-$25 per hour ($28,600 - $32,500 annually), depending on experience

Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and lead weekly student gatherings (Bible study, worship, fellowship, small groups).

  • Plan and lead regular events such as service projects, mission opportunities, retreats, and fun outings.

  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged in their faith.

  • Build and maintain relationships with students and their families.

  • Teach biblically sound lessons that are engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate.

  • Encourage students in spiritual growth, prayer, service, and participation in the larger life of the church.

  • Be present at church worship services to support student integration into the broader church community.

  • Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers to assist with student ministry activities.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to volunteers during programs and events.

  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and the church via email, social media, and announcements.

  • Maintain accurate rosters, permission forms, and event registrations.

  • Manage a student ministry budget in coordination with the church’s finance team.

  • Collaborate with church staff and attend staff meetings as needed.

  • Ensure that all student ministry activities comply with the church’s Ministry Safe/child protection policies.

  • Complete required background checks and training for self and volunteers.
     

Qualifications

  • A growing and maturing Christian faith, with a passion for sharing the love of Christ with young people.

  • Strong leadership, relational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute events and programs.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable.

  • Comfortable with basic technology, social media, and communication tools.

  • Able to participate in typical youth ministry activities, including physical games, outdoor events, and occasional travel.

  • High school diploma required; college coursework in ministry, education, or a related field preferred.

  • Prior experience working with youth in a ministry, education, or mentoring context preferred.

  • Valid driver's License, with clean driving record and proof of auto insurance.
