Job Description
Position Summary:
The Facilities Manager will oversee the management and operations of all the physical facilities of the church. Provide oversight and responsibility for the buildings, grounds, parking
lots, equipment, building systems, general security, and housekeeping, ensuring the facilities are fully operational, safe, clean and neat, and prepared for services and ministry activities.
Oversee and perform maintenance/repairs for the church building, equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical) and property, or act as church representative with outside contractors and inspectors coming onto the property or into the building.
Essential Functions:
● Manage and perform all work related to the maintenance and repair of facilities (including but not limited to building inspections, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, landscape, waste management and security)
● Coordinate with custodial staff to ensure church facilities and property are well maintained and ready for ministry
● Responsible for purchasing and maintaining supplies and equipment on an on-going basis
● Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work
● Oversee and provide facility use coordination. Ensure proper scheduling of HVAC and door access and provide assistance with set up or chair arrangement
● Work with appropriate government agencies to ensure that the campus is safe and meets current code requirements and ensures compliance of OSHA regulations and standards
● Implement, monitor, and follow policies and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and provide efficient use of labor and materials
● Manage expenditures related to the building, facilities, and grounds repairs and maintenance in accordance with the approved budget
● Work with the Senior Pastor and Board of Trustees to report problems, solutions and costs associated with projects not approved in the budget, and provide input to development of the annual budget
● Schedule and coordinate work with outside contractors, as necessary
● Develop and manage volunteers for facility work. Schedule and coordinate efforts of the team, as needed, and stay up-to-date as the point of contact for facility care
General Duties and Expectations:
● Participate in requisite church planning, staff meetings, development and celebration events
● Create and build relationships by nurturing conversations and engagement during activities and by attending various events throughout the year
● All other tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor
Qualifications and Experience:
● 1+ years of experience working with facility management
● General knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in facility maintenance, construction, and repair activities; including skills and abilities related to plumbing, janitorial, electrical systems, painting, carpentry, construction and heating and air conditioning systems
● Evidence of Christian faith and Christian character
● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
● Dedication to a collaborative teamwork environment
● High energy and enthusiasm for growing disciples of Jesus Christ by supporting ministry groups
● Good organizational skills, attentive to details and committed to follow through
● Willingness to take initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision
● Strong commitment to cooperation and hospitality
● Strong commitment to discretion and confidentiality
● Capable of maintaining focus, patience, and peace in a busy environment that involves a full-time preschool, numerous community organizations, and multiple staff members
● Ability to handle conflict with grace
● Demonstrates learning agility while being coachable and open to growth
● Proficiency in Office suite, Windows based systems
● Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., or coordinate heavy lifting and/or carrying as needed
Reporting:
This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee
