Campus Drive United Methodist Church is a vibrant, spirit-filled, African American congregation located in an urban setting, committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We believe in nurturing our youth spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually to become faithful leaders in the church and community.
Position Summary:
The Youth Director will serve as the visionary leader responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive youth ministry for students in grades 6 through 12. This includes Christian education, spiritual formation, youth fellowship, service opportunities, and celebrations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development, culturally aware of African American urban youth experiences, and rooted in Methodist theology.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Oversight
- Plan and lead weekly youth Bible studies, Sunday school classes, and fellowship gatherings.
- Organize annual youth events including retreats, mission projects, and Youth Sunday services.
- Coordinate youth involvement in churchwide celebrations such as Black History Month, Christmas, and Easter.
- Design programs that recognize academic, spiritual, and leadership achievements among youth.
Christian Education
- Develop and adapt age-appropriate, biblically sound curriculum relevant to the realities of urban youth.
- Incorporate Methodist teachings and African American heritage into all educational experiences.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Serve as a spiritual mentor and role model for students in grades 6–12.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers and mentors for youth programs.
**Administration & Communication**
- Maintain regular communication with youth, parents, and church leadership.
- Oversee youth ministry budget and keep records of attendance, milestones, and program impact.

Qualifications:
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Prior experience working with youth, preferably in urban or faith-based settings
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to teach and lead with cultural relevance and theological integrity
- Alignment with the mission and values of the United Methodist Church
Hours & Expectations:
- 10–15 hours per week, including Sundays and some evenings/weekends
- Attendance at regular staff meetings and church-wide events
