Job Description
Position Title: 5th and 6th Grade Ministries Coordinator
Status: Part Time, 15 -20 hours per week
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reporting Relationship: Director of Children & Family Ministries
Position Purpose: To fulfill the vision of Keller UMC by creating and implementing ministries of discipleship, learning and community for 5th grade through 6thth grade children and families in the greater Keller area and the congregation of Keller UMC.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with Director of Children & Family Ministries to prepare short- and long-term goals for 5th and 6th grade ministries.
- Plan and implement spiritual formation for 5th and 6th grade students.
- Recruit and build relationships with volunteers for ministry programming.
- Timely and consistent communication with parents of 5th and 6th graders.
- Plan, prepare, and lead 5th and 6th grade portion of Vacation Bible School.
- Collaborate with Director of Children & Family Ministries to prepare annual budget. Research, purchase, and report supplies as needed.
- Assist with Family Mission Week and/or Jr. High Mission Week as needed.
- Work with other program staff and volunteers in planning and executing special events.
Other Responsibilities:
- Understand and uphold the Safe Sanctuary Keller UMC Child and Youth Protection Policy
- Attend weekly program staff meeting and monthly full staff meetings
- All other duties as requested by the Executive Director of Family Ministries, Director of Youth Ministries, Co-Senior Pastor, or SPRC.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and education
- Sound theological understanding that matches the mission of Keller UMC
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal), time management skills
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
