Job Description

The Staff Parrish Relations Committee (SPRC) of First UMC Rockwall is looking for our next Advisor on Finance and Operations.

The Advisor on Finance and Operations is an integral part of the mission of First UMC Rockwall.  Your work provides a bridge between the financial and operations (facilities) work of the Church.   If your operations and financial background are ready to serve a higher purpose and you are ready for a less demanding schedule, this position may be right for you.  Your general business knowledge and general accounting background can make a difference at First UMC Rockwall. Working in the Church can be very rewarding and presents unique challenges.  The office environment seeks to merge Christian service, professional excellence, and community of support.

This role is a public facing position and requires the candidate to present themselves in an orderly manner of attire and conduct. 

Financial Role   

               Review Church monthly bank statements and reconciliations

               Review Church financial operations

               Front facing person for questions from staff and congregation on Church finances

               Limited and occasional support for Sr. Bookkeeper using QuickBooks software

               Internal Controls enforcement for Finance

               Lead Annual Budget preparation

Operations Role

Works alongside Director of Operations and the Church Trustees on maintenance contracts and insurance

Occasional support with local government permitting, inspections, and compliance issues

Other duties as may be required for Church operations

Other Roles

               Onboarding of new staff members

               Central person for annual background checks for staff and key volunteers

Attend meetings of quarterly (or as called) Church Finance Committee and the Church Trustees meetings. 

Church Council meeting attendance at Budget preparation or as needed.

Attend weekly staff meetings

This is a salaried part time position rated at of 25 hours per week.  The starting salary is $32,500.

This position is expected to be filled after May 1, 2025.
