Pastor/Ministry Associate

Campus Drive United Methodist Church

Reports To: Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and Senior Pastor (if applicable)

Status: Part-Time (15 hours/week)

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience

Purpose:

To support the spiritual, financial, and leadership health of Campus Drive United Methodist Church through intentional pastoral care, effective grant writing and development, and leadership coaching. Preaching will be offered on an as-needed basis, outside of the core 15 paid hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Pastoral Care (Approx. 5 hrs/week)

- Provide compassionate pastoral care to members through visitation, phone calls, and spiritual counseling.
- Support families in times of crisis, illness, bereavement, or special needs.
- Maintain regular contact with homebound members and coordinate care with volunteers as needed.

Grant Writing & Development (Approx. 5 hrs/week)

- Research grant opportunities that align with the mission and ministries of Campus Drive UMC.
- Write, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, denominational offices, and community partners.
- Collaborate with church leadership to develop sustainable funding strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of grants received and ensure timely reporting.

Coaching & Leadership Development (Approx. 5 hrs/week)

- Provide one-on-one or small group coaching for church leaders, ministry teams, or volunteers.
- Support lay leadership growth through training, encouragement, and skill development.
- Help cultivate new leaders to sustain the church’s ministries and vision.

Additional Preaching Duties (As Needed, Not Included in Weekly Hours)

- Preach or assist in worship leadership as scheduled by the Senior Pastor and SPRC.
- Prepare biblically sound, relevant sermons rooted in United Methodist theology.
- Work collaboratively with worship leaders to plan meaningful worship services.
- Preaching duties are as needed, not included in the 15 weekly hours, and may be voluntary or compensated separately by arrangement.

Qualifications:

- A deep commitment to the mission and vision of Campus Drive United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Church.
- Demonstrated experience in pastoral care and leadership coaching.
- Proven ability and experience in grant writing and development work preferred.
- Ability to provide occasional preaching support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time wisely, and collaborate with church staff and volunteers.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in theology, ministry, or a related field preferred.

Working Conditions:

- 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule determined in coordination with the SPRC.
- Some evening or weekend hours may be required for visits, meetings, or special care needs.
- Must maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of pastoral ethics.

Compensation:

- Annual Salary: $30,000 for the core 15 hours per week.
- Occasional preaching is not included in base hours and may be arranged separately.
