Job Description

Position Title: Director of Music Ministries

To Whom Accountable: Senior Pastor

To Whom Giving Direct Supervision: Church Pianist, Children’s and Youth music volunteers, Other employed musicians as required

Committees to Which Responsible: Administrative Council, Staff-Parish Relations Committee

Key Objectives:

Engage the congregation in music that enhances worship, fosters community involvement, and inspires service. Encourage broad participation, prioritize quality musical experiences, and provide meaningful worship leadership.

Basic Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable years of experience in Music Ministry.
• Experience with praise band, choral and handbell choirs, ages children through adults, and basic keyboard skills preferred.

General Description of Duties:

• Collaborate with Senior Pastor to plan weekly worship, and additional services, as needed.
• Work with the Praise Band for the 9:00 service.
• Lead all music sung by the congregation in the 11:00 service.
• Choose, rehearse, and lead all music offered by the Chancel Choir, and Adult Handbell Choirs for the 11:00 service.
• Assist volunteer directors of children and youth choirs with scheduling rehearsals, scheduling Sundays to sing/ring, providing resources as needed and planning, preparing, and providing a summer music camp for children. Assist with rehearsals, as may be needed.
• Plan, prepare, and offer additional music for Advent, Christmas Eve, Holy Week/Easter.
• Utilize various means to recruit singers, ringers, and soloists.

Other Duties:

• Ensure care of all church instruments, including, but not limited to all pianos, handbells, and hand chimes.
• Ensure care of choir robes and stoles.
• Ensure care and maintenance of Choral and Handbell music libraries
• Prepare and submit an annual music ministry budget, as may be required.
• Assist Finance Administrator with maintaining CCLI and One License fees and reports.
