Part-Time Director of Children’s Ministry for First United Methodist Church, Sachse

Job Profile:

  • Passion for faith and working with children (Infant through 5th grade) and their families

  • Ability to connect with children and parents

  • Leadership and communication skills

  • Experience organizing, planning and empowering a volunteer team

  • Church background in United Methodist Church preferred

  • Responsible and present for weekly Sunday morning programming 

and special events, 8 am to 1 pm

  • Some experience and college education preferred

  • Basic computer and technology skills required

  • 10 hours per week

  • Salary range $10,000-12,000 per year

DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES JOB DESCRIPTION

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, SACHSE

 

Description: To ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Christ and to equip children for their spiritual journey by equipping parents to develop a biblical worldview in their children, promote Scripture memorizing, prayer, and personal Bible reading, as well as provide a safe and fun learning environment. 

Supervision: Reports to the Senior Pastor

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Responsibility for the oversight and leadership of all Children’s Ministries     education planning, event planning, and curriculum selection to promote     the vision and mission of the church.

2.      Recruiting, training and empowering volunteers.

3.       Ensures compliance according to the FUMCS Safe Sanctuaries and Ministry         Safe policies for Children’s Ministries.

4.       Encourage children’s participation in the congregational worship life during all         Sunday services.

5.           Lead, participate in and/or recruit/equip leaders for weekly Sunday morning     and other children programs targeting both children in the church and in the     community.

6.       Coordinate and attend all children’s activities, outreach ministries, and events at         Little Milestones.

7.       Create and effectively manage the ministry’s budget.

8.       Communicate regularly with parents and volunteers to create an environment of         open communication

9.       Be active in school and community ministries/events that involve children.

10.    Communicate consistently with parents as well as provide the tools they need for     spiritual leadership.

11.    Embrace new ideas and suggestions by volunteers and parents.

12.     Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.       A disciple of Christ who is growing in faith.

2.       Strong relational skills with children, volunteers, congregation and community

3.       Successful completion of a background check and Ministry Safe training.

4.       Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.

5.       Conflict management and confidentiality awareness.

6.       Experience leading in a faith community.

7.       College degree or certifications in early childhood development or education is         preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

1.       Vision and ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement children’s         ministry.

2.       Excellent written and verbal communications skills; organizational skills;     conflict management skills; interpersonal skills; leadership skills;         technology skills.

 

3.      Ability to multi-task; flexibility; maintains confidentiality of sensitive information;  demonstrated leadership skills in a variety of settings; commitment to         continuing education.

TIME REQUIRED: 10 hours per week on average.

COMPENSATION: The job will be compensated according to educational background and experience.
