Job Description
First United Methodist Church of Allen is seeking a Youth Ministry Assistant to cultivate a Christ-centered youth community that nurtures faith, builds meaningful relationships, and equips students to grow as disciples and leaders within the church for youth in grades 7-12.
Key Responsibilities
• Model a vibrant Christian faith and lead students in spiritual growth through teaching, mentoring, and relationship-building
• Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where students feel known, valued, and encouraged
• Provide intentional discipleship and mentorship, with particular sensitivity to the relational and spiritual needs of both male and female students
• Plan, lead, and oversee:
- Sunday School
- Sunday Night Youth Fellowship
- Weekly Small Group
• Collaborate with student leaders to set ministry goals and develop an annual ministry calendar
• In conjunction with the Director of Spiritual Formation; select, implement, and oversee age-appropriate, biblically sound curriculum
• Recruit, train, support, and schedule youth ministry volunteers
• Participate in leadership team meetings and contribute to broader church vision and planning
• Prepare curriculum and lesson plans in advance
Qualifications
• A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the teachings of the United Methodist Church.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with individuals in grades 6-12 in a ministry setting or a similar role.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, and families.
• A heart for youth and a passion for their spiritual growth and development.
