Position Title: Director of Youth Ministry
Reports to: Senior Pastor and SPRC
Status: Part-Time
Location: Belton First United Methodist Church (Belton, Texas)
Time: 16 hours/week- Flexible scheduling with additional hours for retreats, seasonal events,
and planning
Position Summary
Belton First United Methodist Church is seeking a spiritually grounded, relational, and visionary
leader to serve as Director of Youth Ministry. This part-time position offers the opportunity to
build a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry for students in grades 6–12—one that nurtures authentic
faith, creates space for connection, and reflects the deep welcome of the church.
The ideal candidate is passionate about walking alongside youth on their spiritual journey, values
each student’s unique story and identity, and is committed to helping them experience the love of
God in meaningful ways. The Director will collaborate with the clergy, church staff, volunteers,
and parents to shape a shared vision for spiritual formation that nurtures faith from childhood
through young adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
1. Spiritual Formation & Presence
• Lead weekly youth gatherings (currently Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings)
focused on faith exploration, prayer, scripture, and community.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and grace-filled environment where all youth feel seen, valued,
and loved.
• Serve as a spiritual mentor and trusted adult in the lives of youth and their families.
• Encourage youth participation in worship, service, and the broader life of the church.
2. Program Leadership & Innovation
• Rebuild and lead a youth ministry that reflects the mission and values of First UMC
Belton.
• Plan engaging events throughout the year, including retreats, service opportunities, and
special celebrations.
• Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Director to support seamless spiritual
development across age groups.
• Foster a culture of invitation and belonging among youth
3. Volunteer & Family Engagement
• Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers to serve in teaching, mentoring, and
leadership roles.
• Communicate consistently with parents and caregivers, encouraging partnership in the
spiritual growth of their children.
• Promote intergenerational relationships and opportunities within the church community.
4. Administration & Communication
• Maintain event calendars, registrations, and required documentation in compliance with
Safe Gatherings policies.
• Manage communication through email, social media, and church announcements.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate on church-wide planning and
ministry initiatives.
• Track hours and assist with youth budget planning and fundraising efforts.
Qualifications
• A growing and mature Christian faith, with a passion for ministry with young people.
• Alignment with United Methodist theology and a desire to offer ministry that reflects
Christ’s love for all.
• Strong relational and communication skills, with the ability to connect with youth and
families from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in youth ministry (volunteer or paid); theological education is a plus but not
required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families in a team-oriented
environment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and eligible to drive church vehicles (or willing to
become certified.)
• Complete Ministry Safe training and background check
