Job Description
Role Summary: The Preschool Director holds the responsibility for the overall success and operation of The Developmental Learning Center of First United Methodist Church, Dallas. This multifaceted role, leading the year-round, weekly childcare ministry of FUMC Dallas, requires a blend of strong leadership, educational expertise, business intelligence, and a deep commitment to the well-being and development of young children. The Director of the DLC is a part of the church staff and works closely with the Director of FUMC Dallas Kids Ministry.
Leadership and Vision:
Strategic planning: Developing and implementing long-term plans for program growth, curriculum enhancements, and facility improvements.
Leading staff: Providing strong leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for all staff members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Operational and Administrative Oversight:
Daily operations: Managing all aspects of the preschool's daily functions, including scheduling, classroom assignments, facility maintenance, and safety protocols.
Regulatory compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to all state, and local licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and TSR accreditation requirements. This involves maintaining updated records and preparing for inspections.
Financial management: Developing and managing the annual budget, overseeing tuition collection, payroll, purchasing supplies, and ensuring financial stability.
Enrollment and marketing: Managing student enrollment, conducting tours for prospective families, and implementing marketing and outreach strategies to maintain and increase enrollment.
Curriculum and Program Quality:
Curriculum development: Overseeing the development, implementation of Frog street curriculum, oversight on parent-teacher conferences, training and supporting teachers annual observations and needs assessments.
Instructional excellence: Monitoring classroom activities, observing teachers, and providing feedback to ensure instructional excellence and effective classroom management.
Staff Management and Human Resources:
Hiring and training: Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding qualified teachers and support staff. Continue to facilitate mentor training programs to enhance cross-training opportunities amongst staff.
Performance management: Conduct annual performance evaluations, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, and addressing any personnel issues or conflicts.
Professional development: Facilitating and coordinating professional development opportunities and training for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Parent and Community Relations:
Communication hub: Serving as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing their concerns, providing updates on their children's progress, and fostering open communication.
Family engagement: Organizing and promoting parent-teacher conferences, and family engagement events to build a strong sense of community within the school.
Community outreach: Representing the preschool in the community, building partnerships with local organizations, building collaborative efforts with church members, and promoting the school's positive image within the community and the church.
Safety and Well-being:
Ensuring a safe environment: Enforcing strict health and safety policies, emergency procedures, and conducting regular fire drills, lockdown drills, and weather drills.
Child protection: Adhering to the child protection policies and mandated reporting guidelines.
Key skills and qualities for applicants to this position include:

Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in early childhood education is highly preferred.

A Director’s certificate is required.

5 years of experience working as a licensed Preschool Director required.

Strong leadership and management abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Deep knowledge of Texas School Ready (TSR) Programming, and Child Care Services (CCS) program, administered by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
