Job Description
This full-time position plays a vital role in providing a loving and nurturing environment in which students, 7th-12th grades, can grow in God’s grace. Working closely with the youth pastor, this role helps create and sustain a ministry where young people build a resilient faith that lasts beyond graduation. The ideal candidate will have a heart for relational ministry, strong leadership skills, and a desire to mentor students, especially the young men in our ministry, as they navigate faith and life.
Responsibilities
• Attend and assist in teaching Sunday School.
• Lead and facilitate weekly UMYF programming.
• Recruit and equip volunteers for UMYF.
• Lead youth band for UMYF, recruit students for youth band.
• Lead and facilitate weekly life group.
• Lead and execute special events throughout the year such as youth banquet, high school mission trip, camping trip, fundraisers, etc.
• Build a strong relationship with the students and parents of our ministry with a focus towards the guys in the youth group.
• Contribute to Sunday morning worship within the church where appropriate.
• Adhere to church policies/procedures regarding safe programming for children/youth.
Qualifications
• A growing and personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with youth in a ministry or educational setting
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Musical ability preferred (especially for leading youth band)
• Completion of or willingness to complete MinistrySafe training and background check
