Position Purpose

The Financial Director of FUMC Arlington exists to oversee all financial and organizational tasks and obligations of the church.  In this capacity they will drive all fundraising and financial accountability efforts, oversee staff associated with facility usage and excellence, and manage the administrative side of the church.

Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Financial

  • Maintain the general ledger for the financial operations for FUMC Arlington and all investments.
  • Manage cash requirements, allocation of funds, and budgetary requirements.
  • Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Manage payroll, taxes, W2’s, 1099’s, and 941’s.
  • Manage Employee Paid-Time Off per SPR policy and Senior Pastor discretion.
  • Oversee a team of counters to process Sunday’s offering and ensure that all financial processes are done with excellence and transparency.
  • Post offerings weekly to individual contribution records and send out quarterly statements to donors.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to the Finance Committee.
  • Attend the Trustee Committee alongside the Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate audits as required.
  • Alongside the Senior Pastor and Communication Director, lead the Stewardship arm of Finance Team to produce a successful, well-coordinated, and well-communicated Stewardship Campaign.
  • Lead the FUMC Staff in preparing a budget for Finance Team to approve.
  • Serve as a financial resource in property, construction, and large expenditures.
  • Prepare the monthly and annual reports to the Finance Team.
  • Seek out and procure grants to further fund FUMC’s ministry and building maintenance.

 

Administrative

  • Ensure the church office has the supplies that it needs.
  • Oversee contracts for printer, postage machine, and any software subscriptions/licenses.
  • Serve as the backup to the front desk and phone calls.
  • Oversee that all employees and volunteers are in compliance with Ministry Safe and background check training and policies.
  • Serve as the food safety point person for the commercial kitchen.
  • Oversee the administrative tasks associated with the columbarium, including executing niche contracts and being the lead on internment procedures.
  • Oversee Receptionist.
  • Coordinate and update the church calendar on Planning Center, or approve requests made by staff.
  • Serve as the administrator for Planning Center.
    • Update church member records as needed.
    • Enter all new visitor information as received.
    • Merge profiles when needed to ensure database cleanliness.
    • Process background checks as needed/instructed.
    • Alongside family ministry staff, manage promotions of age-level ministry members.
    • Ensure all forms associated with worship attendance, Sunday school, etc. are set-up for a new year/functioning properly.
  • Oversee and execute occasional church mailings, alongside Receptionist.
  • Execute wedding contracts and serve as the primary point of contact for wedding scheduling.
    • Oversee wedding host and communicate needs to them.
  • Be present at the Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings to answer logistical, administrative, or financial questions.’
  • Serve as the primary contact for outside groups wanting to utilize FUMC’s building space.
    • Execute building usage contracts with outside groups.
  • Oversee Director of Operations and other subordinate staff.
