Position Summary
The Children’s Ministry Director provides leadership, vision, and coordination for a vibrant and engaging children’s ministry at FUMC Celina. This role focuses on creating a dynamic Sunday morning experience where children encounter God’s love in meaningful, fun, and age-appropriate ways.
This leader will build, develop, and sustain a ministry that helps children and families feel welcomed, connected, and growing in faith—supporting the church’s identity as a House of Grace.
Position Details
- Type: Part-Time (Approximately 10-15 hours per week)
- Compensation: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)
- Reports to: Senior Pastor
- Schedule: Sundays required; flexible weekday hours
Primary Responsibilities
Sunday Ministry Leadership
- Design and lead a high-quality, engaging Sunday children’s program
- Oversee all children’s ministry environments, including:
- Children’s Church
- Sunday School classes
- Nursery
- Ensure a safe, welcoming, and joyful experience for all children and families
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to serve effectively on Sundays
Program Development & Creativity
- Develop and organize curriculum, lessons, and activities that are biblically grounded and age-appropriate
- Create a fun, interactive, and spiritually meaningful environment for children
- Continuously improve ministry experiences with creativity and intentionality
Volunteer Leadership
- Build and maintain a strong volunteer team
- Schedule and communicate with volunteers regularly
- Provide encouragement, guidance, and appreciation for those serving
Weekly Planning & Family Connection
- Plan and prepare all elements needed for Sunday programming
- Communicate consistently with parents and families
- Build relationships with families to foster trust, engagement, and discipleship at home
Events & Outreach
- Help plan and support church-wide events, especially those involving children and families
- Participate in occasional community events to connect with and reach new families
- Collaborate with church leadership to grow the ministry’s reach and impact
Qualifications
- A growing and active Christian faith
- Passion for working with children and families
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Creative, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Ability to recruit, lead, and inspire volunteers
- Experience in children’s ministry or education preferred
Expectations
- Be present and engaged on Sunday mornings
- Participate in key church events throughout the year
- Model a positive, welcoming, and Christ-centered attitude
- Work collaboratively with staff and church leadership
- Attend weekly Staff Meetings
