Rev. Dr. April Bristow is an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church. She is currently serving as the Associate Director of the Intern Program at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Rutgers University, a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and a Doctor of Ministry with a specialization in pastoral care from Houston Graduate School of Theology. Her academic achievements have earned her the Albert Outler Award for Outstanding Essay in Theology and a Doctoral Excellence Award.
Dr. Bristow is an inspiring preacher, teacher, retreat and study leader, coach and spiritual director. She has authored a divorce recovery class entitled “Becoming One Again: Intentional Steps Toward Healing for Divorced/Divorcing Persons.” She is a Compassion Fatigue Professional focusing on burnout in caregiving, career and ministry. Dr. Bristow is the chair for the Golden Cross Division of Methodist Health System.
Dr. Bristow also has a passion for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. She has co-authored the SELFIE Model for Cultural Intelligence for People of Faith and leads Cultural Competency Training in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is also a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory that assists individuals and groups live more faithfully into their vision for inclusion.
