Job Description
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Grace Chapel Director of Family Ministries with the spiritual growth and development of students in both Middle School and High School. The Summer Youth Ministry Intern will engage students, parents, and other adults in the congregation to facilitate growth and empower children and students to fully participate in the life of the church.
This position is 3-month contract position
Salary Range: $3,500-$4,500
Reports to: Director of Family Ministries
Hours per week: 15-20
- Work week (non-event weeks): 2-3 days, including Sundays
- Overnight Events: 3 week-long, overnight mission trips/Summer camps;
- In-house Events: 2 week-long youth week/VBC (either during morning or evening)
Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:

Overseeing Youth Ministry in cooperation with Director of Family Ministries in:
-
spiritual and emotional support of students
-
physical growth of the youth program
-

Attending and facilitating three, week-long events with students
-
High School Mission Trip - June 23-29 (In attendance with Grace Avenue UMC)
-
Bridgeport Mixed Camp - July 1-5 (Conference-wide camp)
-
Middle School Mission Trip - July 7-12 (In attendance with Grace Avenue UMC and others from conference)

Assisting the Director of Family Ministries in developing and implementing Youth Week programming
-
Assisting the Director of Family Ministries with children’s programming as needed
-
Assisting the Director of Family Ministries in weekly planning and administrative tasks
Duties
Include but are not limited to:
-
Youth Programming
-
Be present for all youth programming
-
Assist Director of Family Ministries in leading learning opportunities
-
Following up with guest families and students
-
-
Assist Director of Family Ministries in
-
Working with Kids Council, Volunteers, and Parents for program planning, leadership, and fundraising events
-
Engaging the parents of children and youth regularly both in communicating the events and needs of the program as well as empowering them to serve in needed areas
-
Communicate with the Director of Family Ministries along with pastors and other staff regularly including bi-weekly staff meetings

Work with the larger staff on church-wide events

Summer Youth Intern will be present for:
-
All Sunday morning programming
-
All Sunday afternoon/youth programming
-
Any special events planned for youth, including 3, week-long, overnight events

Weekly meeting with the Director of Family Ministries

Bi-weekly church staff and programming meetings
-

Evidence of Christian faith and Christian character

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
