Job Description

AUMC is searching for a leader who is called to serve 6th-12th grade students, their families and the volunteers who lead them. We are an open and affirming (LGBTQ-affirming) church of roughly 800 members in Richardson/N. Dallas, and we are growing! Ideal candidates will be creative, organized, forward thinking and good at building warm relationships with adults and students. Experience and prior success at leading Student Ministries will be valued.

Status: Part-time (30 hrs/week)

Pay Range: $35,000-40,000

Duties

Include but not limited to:

  • Champion a vision and culture for faith formation, ages 6th - 12th grade

  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers

  • Work with volunteer leaders to plan and execute weekly programming, currently:

    • Sunday morning classes at 9:45 (Mid-High and Sr-High)

    • Sunday evening youth at 5p - 7p (combined)

  • Work with volunteer leaders to plan and executed seasonal programming (Mission Trips, Retreats, One-day or Overnight events, etc.)

  • Evaluate curriculum for various age-levels and programs

  • Ensure engagement of students in worship

  • Oversee congregational care to students

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards as it relates to ministry with students

  • Attend leadership meetings, as directed

  • Develop and maintain departmental budgets

  • Maintain correct information in Church databases

Requirements 

  • Bachelor degree and 3+ years professional experience working with children in a church or school setting (preferred)

  • Ability to work Sunday Mornings and Evenings, as well as flexibility in connecting with students/families outside typical working hours.

  • Culturally competent and open-minded and inclusive as we minister with diverse persons, including race, sexuality, gender-identity, and beliefs

  • Theologically thoughtful in evaluating curriculum and faith formation

  • Proactive in planning ahead, calendaring, and communicating plans

  • Develops warm relationships with AUMC students and their families

  • Holds a team mindset in working with staff
