Job Description

This position will faithfully oversee all aspects of ministry and spiritual formation with children, youth and the families at White Rock United Methodist Church. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Associate Pastor of Discipleship to develop meaningful relationships and engaging opportunities that embody diverse expressions, vibrancy and creativity in telling the Gospel story to children, youth and their families.

This position will also work closely with staff to oversee multiple program ministries at the church including but not limited to justice work, adult education, confirmation and Sunday School. As the Director of Family Ministries, this position also supervises our childcare staff and volunteers. 

White Rock UMC is a growing congregation located in one of the most unique and developing neighborhoods in Dallas with an average weekly worship attendance of 230. We are committed to revitalizing our congregation through creative community partnerships alongside a progressive theology and a deep understanding of the parish responsibility of churches.

  • Have a high ability to build relationships across generations.  

  • Have experience working with children and youth. 

  • Display willingness to teach.

  • Have a strong commitment to listen to and develop solutions to the needs of our families.

  • Be willing to engage traditional program models and adapt them to our current context. 

  • Possess a strong desire to introduce new and innovative curriculum, ideas and  ministries focused on our children and youth, specifically utilizing digital expressions.  

  • Have experience managing a child-care staff.

  • Possess strong organizational skills and time management. 

  • Have an ability to integrate into a diverse, emerging community in East Dallas.

  • Possess a collaborative spirit with other staff members and programs within the church. 

  • Experience planning large community events is a plus. 

  • Current enrollment in seminary or a completed seminary degree is a plus.
