Job Description

Suncreek UMC has grown to be a vibrant 2,000 member church complete with a well-respected preschool and programs, ministries and activities for all ages. Currently the church has a staff of 14. 

The Administrator is responsible for the financial aspect of the church, managing the facilities and supervising the non-pastoral staff. The administrator works directly with the Finance and Trustee committees and reports to the Senior Pastor. 

Pay range: Commensurate with experience and skill level

Work hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. – noon; after hours as required

Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or finance related field or equivalent work experience (graduate degree preferred) 
  • 10+ years of professional experience preferred; Experience working in a church, education, or not-for-profit environment preferred

Duties

Administration

  • Administers all financial matters and acts as the Church Treasurer
  • Manages all financial functions of the church to include, but not limited to:
    • Capital campaign 

    • Banking relationships

    • Maintains church staff personnel files and tracks staff vacation days / PTO

    • Stewardship Development

    • Benefits

    • Payroll

    • Accounts Payable

    • Contributions, Contribution Processing, and Contribution Records

    • Financial Planning and Administration / financial reporting

    • Budgets; development of the annual budgets

    • Oversees and manages all facilities to include, but not limited to:

      • Contractors and vendors

      • Custodial staff and ordering of custodial supplies

      • Repairs and maintenance

  • Administers the church calendar and building use in coordination with Office Manager
  • Tracks and orders church supplies in coordination with Office Manager
  • Oversees the purchase, maintenance, and support of technology
  • Oversees the communications function and advises Communication staff as required
  • Performs tasks as needed or assigned by Senior Pastor for ministry development
  • Helps recruit, train, and interface with Office volunteers
  • Attends and participates in church committee meetings to include:
    • Communications

    • Church Council

    • Stewardship

    • Board of Trustees

    • Finance

Supervision

  • Supervises non-pastoral staff:

    • Director of Music Ministries

    • Director of Youth Ministries

    • Director of Children’s Ministries

    • Director of Local and Global Missions

    • Office Manager

    • Director of Communications and Technology

  • Completes performance reviews of direct reports under guidance of SPRC 

Communication 

  • Provides content for website updates (as required)

  • Communicates with members and the community via social media, website, texts, email

Other 

  • Safety; ensures SUMC is Ministry Safe compliant

  • Confidentiality; this position has access or knowledge of confidential financial and personal information and must be able to handle this information with utmost discretion 

  • Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings and church calendar meetings with program staff

  • Possesses a “can-do” attitude and willingness to step-in to assist or lead in any situation when needed

  • Proficient in MS Office applications and financial software
