Job Description

St. Luke “Community” UMC is looking for a part-time Nursery Worker. This position is accountable for ensuring that the Nursery is a place where babies and toddlers are warmly received and cared for in a Christian environment.

Qualifications

  • A strong Christian faith and commitment to the ministry of the local church
  • A genuine love for children and their families
  • Prior experience in a similar setting
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • An outgoing personality that can engage parents and volunteers
  • Enthusiasm, creating a positive atmosphere
  • A strong awareness of the physical and emotional needs of young children
  • Ability to think creatively and make clear decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An open, honest, enthusiastic attitude toward others
  • A desire to grow in the skills and knowledge required for this position

Education

  • High School graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • First Aid/ CPR certification

Experience

  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • 6 months – 1 year experience providing both care and education to children ranging from infancy through early childhood
  • The ability to work with and care for multiple children of varying ages at the same time
  • The ability to nurture and work as a team with other volunteers working in the nursery
  • The ability to assess the needs of the nursery, both from a supply standpoint and from the perspective of staffing, training, and the development of procedures
  • Working knowledge of word processing and Excel

The work day is on Sundays for $16 per hour. College interns are welcome to apply.
