St. James UMC, Little Rock, AR
St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Ark., is looking for an experienced Director of Children’s Ministries. This individual will lead a team of volunteers to serve children ages 3-5th grade. The program focuses teaching children the basics of the Christian faith.
The leader of this ministry must be skilled in building relationships, be a creative thinker, communicate effectively with children and adults and have the ability to equip volunteers. The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programing as well as seasonal events.
There is the expectation that the Director will grow the program both in depth of faith and numerically. To accomplish this there is a rich outreach field with an afterschool program, preschool program and elementary school across the street. The church has a wonderful children’s facility.
St. James is a large suburban church in a small city. Little Rock is known for its locally-owned restaurants, the number of outdoor recreational activities including hundreds of miles of trails connecting many lakes and rivers. If you enjoy a rural feel in an urban center, then Little Rock is a great, and affordable, place to live.
Candidates must have 3-5 years minimum experience in working in children’s ministry or education, Bachelor’s degree in Church ministry or education, Methodist background preferred but not required. Deadline to apply is Feb. 28.
