Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Children’s Ministry, the Pre-Teen Program Minister provides program support for the Children’s Ministry Department. Responsible for developing and overseeing all programs, curriculum and events pertaining to Pre-Teen Ministry (4th/5th Grade.) Create and edit Pre-Teen curriculum for small groups on Sunday mornings. Plan and present Pre-Teen Large Group on Sunday mornings. Plan, schedule and implement The Cliff meetings once a month. Plan and implement Leadership Program (3rd-5th grade children) with worship team. Partner with Middle School Coordinator to ensure smooth transition for rising 5th graders and families during the Spring to bridge the Summer between Elementary and Student Ministry. Continued creation and development of Pre-Teen Ministry programs, events and curriculum not yet realized at this time.

Essential Functions

  • Upper Elementary:
    • Create and/or edit all Pre-Teen Small Group activities for Sunday mornings.
    • Plan and present Pre-Teen Large Group at both 9:30am and 11:0am hours.
    • Maintain online Pre-Teen Large Group presentations.
    • Maintain weekly social media posts to Pre-Teen Ministry Facebook/Instagram pertaining to Sunday Morning Curriculum
    • Curate and send weekly emails to 4th and 5th Grade Parents every Sunday afternoon
    • Work with Student’s Ministry to develop, create and implement 4th Sunday Chapel. This will be a program occurring during Pre-Teen Large Group at both hours on 4th Sunday. Speakers from Student Ministry will present.
  • The Cliff
    • Plan, schedule, and implement The Cliff once per month.
    • Communicate and advertise The Cliff meetings (including sending parent emails, creating posters, and social media posts)
    • Partner with Middle School Coordinator to plan, schedule and implement The Cliff X 412 crossover events in the Spring
  • Leadership Program (3rd-5th grade)
    • Work with Worship team to develop and implement Leadership Program for 3rd-5th graders to serve in worship services.
    • Leadership roles include the following
      • Acolytes
      • Ushers
      • Greeters
  • Summer
    • Plan, schedule, and implement VBX (4th/5th Grade branch of VBS)
    • Develop and implement a Pre-Teen Camp
    • Attend other offsite retreats/camps including but not limited to: Bridgeport, Camp Impact, Middle School Retreat
  • Realm
    • Maintain all groups/ attendance pertaining to Preteen Ministry
    • The Cliff
    • 4th Grade Small Groups
    • 5th Grade Small Groups
    • Leadership Program
  • Maintain
    • Preteen Spaces: classrooms, Preteen Game Room, Preteen Hallway, and Upper Elementary Lobby
    • Assist with Children’s Ministry Work Room

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work (or other family studies) or equivalent years of experience.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience

Physical Demands: This is largely sedentary role; however, Sunday mornings require lots of walking and climbing up and down 3 levels of stairs. The events will require more walking and lifting than the typically office requirements.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full Time Position with a required 36.5 hours per week. Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is a requirement.

Travel: Attend offsite retreats and camps.
