The Part-Time Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the administrative functions of Spring Valley United Methodist Church. This individual will be responsible for coordinating various tasks related to church operations, communications and community engagement. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities and proficiency in design and social media platforms.
Hours: 25 hours per week
- Church Calendar Management: Maintain an up-to-date and organized church calendar, including scheduling of events, meetings, and special services.
- Communication Materials: Utilize design skills to create visually appealing communication materials, both in print and digital formats, including online and for worship services. Prepare and distribute weekly worship bulletins, newsletters, and other communication materials as needed, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
- Membership Roll Maintenance: Maintain accurate membership records, including updates, new member information, and membership status changes.
- Denominational Reports: Assist in the preparation of annual denominational reports, compiling necessary data and ensuring submission within designated deadlines.
- Community and Congregation Interface: Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable point of contact for inquiries from the community and congregation members. Facilitate communication and engagement between the church and its members.
- Supervise office volunteers: Recruit, train and support volunteers to answer phones and assist with other needs in the office.
- Other administrative tasks: schedule and submit background checks for staff and volunteers, maintain vacation and personal time off (PTO) records, administer and distribute pastor benevolence funds.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in administration, communications, or a related field is a plus.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and social media platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and interface with a diverse range of individuals.
- Previous experience in administrative, clerical, or church-related roles is desirable.
