Job Description

Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church is looking for a Summer Youth Ministry Intern to help with the needs of our summer trips and events. This is a great opportunity for those interested in working with youth in a ministry setting, but it is not a requirement to be interested in working in ministry.

This position will work with and report directly to the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at RPUMC.

Responsibilities

Attend and help lead youth activities on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, mission trip, VBS, BigStuf trip and various other planned events
Be present with youth, building relationships and encouraging them to engage and participate
Help plan and lead youth group activities
Work with adult volunteers as necessary to ensure a welcoming, safe environment for youth at all times
Work with the Youth Director on communications and social media
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Youth Director
Have fun!

Expectations

Arrive at least 30 minutes before all events
Be respectful and professional when communicating with parents and adult volunteers
Communicate regularly with the Youth Director
Have interest and excitement in leading youth, especially in their personal relationships with God
Need to attend BigStuf June 18-24 and UM ARMY mission trip July 9-14
Pass a background check and Ministry Safe Training
At least 18 and a full year out of high school

Hours and Pay

$3000 for the entire summer
Hours are flexible and depend on events during the week. Without trips, can expect about ~15 hrs/wk
Start date end of may/beginning of June, end date mid-August. Start/end dates are flexible if needed based on college end/start dates
