Job Description

New Covenant UMC is a reconciling church seeking a full-time Administrative/Financial Assistant. 

General: Full-time, program & support staff position. Sunday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Serves under the supervision of the Pastor
  • Reviewed annually by Staff Parrish Relationship Committee in consultation with the Pastor.
  • Reports monthly to the Leadership Board.

Responsibilities

Maintains the church financial operations and records; assists and supports the Pastor in communications and the administration of the church.

  • Oversees the general appearance of the church; maintains facility use forms and records, including the collection of building usage fees; provides oversight of church key distribution.
  • Maintains and oversees office equipment and rental contracts under the direction of the Pastor and Leadership Board; orders and maintains church office and cleaning supplies.
  • Prepares paper and digital church communications, including social media.
  • Maintains church calendar, including communication of meeting.
  • Oversees and maintains church website and email system.
  • Prepares media and oversees live streaming for all worship services.
  • Develops graphics for promotion of regular, seasonal, and special church events, including advertising
  • Follows generally accepted accounting procedures in preparing and maintaining of all church financial records and in executing the financial business of the church.
  • Maintains and balances all bank accounts; prepares and maintains records for all bank deposits.
  • Maintains and balances records for all credit card accounts; maintains and balances all records for bill payments and reimbursements.
  • Maintains all statistical, attendance and contribution records; prepares contribution letters quarterly.
  • Prepares and maintains bank signature records; oversees all financial archive records.
  • Prepares and maintains all payroll and tax records and distributions.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for Senior Pastor and Leadership Board review.
  • In cooperation with Senior Pastor, Chair of Leadership Board, other staff, and church leadership prepares annual budget for congregation approval.
  • Prepares annual Charge Conference and year-end finance, membership and participation reports; prepares documents for annual financial audit.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality a must.
  • Pleasant telephone manner and customer service skills, good organizational habits, high level of dependability.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including PowerPoint. Ability to learn streaming, financial (QuickBooks) and church record software. Working Knowledge of all social media platforms.
  • Must pass criminal background check and Ministry Safe Training
