Job Description

The worship pastor is responsible for leading students into a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. The worship pastor will plan and execute all worship environments for family ministry, including special events. Planning will be accomplished in coordination with the Munger Youth and MungerKids staff. This pastor will develop a youth band to plan and lead worship independently. 

The Family Ministries Worship Pastor must thrive in a fast-paced, highly relational, creative environment with tight deadlines and busy schedules. Due to the nature of youth and kids ministry, early mornings, late nights, weekends and weeklong out-of-town events are the norm. Office hours are determined with these factors in mind.  

Reports To: Director Of Family Ministries 

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Working Hours: 12 hours per week 

Pay: $200 a half day 

Anticipated Schedule: Mondays from 9am-noon; Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.; Sundays from 8am-noon. A thirty-minute unpaid break minimum is required Monday through Thursday. During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job and special events. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter. 
 

Duties

General 

  • Serve as lead Worship Pastor for K-12th grade students and their families

  • Lead worship at Fall retreat for Youth Ministry

  • Lead worship on all Youth Mission Trips

  • Lead worship for Children’s Ministry Vacation Bible School

  • Weekly set up/check of A/V for Youth & Kids worship spaces

  • Serve in other worship areas as needed

  • Coordinate contractors as needed

  • Continually evaluate the Munger Family ministry worship environments and our execution of this strategy 

  • Additional duties as assigned

 Create Strategic Environments 

  • Work with Munger Family Ministry staff to plan and execute all worship environments

  • Work with the Family Ministry staff to develop a strategy for worship and youth musician discipleship

 Cultivate Personal Relationships with Students 

  • Develop a youth band. This includes teaching and training middle school and high school students during weekly rehearsals  

  • Help lead Kids’ Choir

  • Lead a Life Group and Bible Study for Youth Ministry

 Model a Missional Mindset 

  • Help students view their future through the lens of Christ’s calling on their lives 

  • Help students understand their calling and worship as a lifestyle 

 Meetings 

  • Attend weekly Family Ministry department meetings  

  • Meet with Pastor to Youth & Their Families bi-weekly 

Education/Skills 

  • Ability to build, lead, and empower student worship volunteer teams 
  • Growing knowledge of audio/visual tech equipment and skills 
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and positive attitude 
  • High degree of initiative and accountability 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Software knowledge
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Google Suite 
    • ProPresenter 

Physical Demands: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Seeing, Hearing, Speaking, Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds, Fine Motor Skills 

Other Qualifications: Must be a Christian committed to living a life that reflects the Gospel,  who feels called to lead worship for Youth and Kids’ Ministry and is comfortable working in a United Methodist Church environment.
