Job Description

The Minister with Youth and Families is responsible for ministry with students (grades 6-12), both in our church and in our community. Our youth ministry consists of approximately 40 students who attend a variety of ministries including Wednesday Night and Sunday morning Bible Study and Sunday Night Youth. 

The Minister with Youth and Families will partner with the lead pastor and church staff team to integrate students in the ministry of the church and encourage students to welcome others. This person will offer an example of faithful Christian living and be comfortable exploring areas of theology with students. This person will maintain a high level of focus on engaging, equipping and empowering volunteers in their ministry. The primary responsibilities of this part-time position (18-20 hours/week, including Sundays) include, but may not be limited to:

  • Worship God… Be present on Sunday mornings to worship alongside of youth
  • Build Friendships… Engage, equip, and empower adults within the church as volunteers in youth ministry
  • Grow in Faith… 
    • Oversee Sunday and Wednesday evening youth programs (grades 6-12) for fellowship, nurturing and biblical/theological education
    • Oversee confirmation for 6th grade students and others ready to make a profession of faith
  • Love Each Other… Care for students and their families through consistent communication and partnership that aims to bring out the best in both students and their families
  • Give Generously… Invest time, energy and resources in the youth of Melissa, both in the church and in the community (for example, at community events, sports or fine arts activities, school lunches, etc.)
  • Transform the World… Engage with students in community and domestic service opportunities (Melissa and DFW-based charitable organizations, relief efforts, summer mission trips to other cities, etc.) that broaden their view of humanity and ministry opportunities (economical, relational, empowerment, etc.)
  • Uphold standards for safety of our youth through background checks, Ministry Safe training and other appropriate measures


  • High school diploma and secondary education in music, education and/or theology
  • Experience in building relationships with students
  • Training and empowering adult leadership teams
  • Communicating with parents and families
  • Engaged in the community. 
  • Experience in classroom or group setting with middle school or high school youth
  • Personal faith in, and a growing relationship with, Jesus Christ
