Lakewood UMC: Children's and Family Ministries Director

Plan and implement a program of Faith and Spiritual Development for Children of all ages

Supervisor: The Pastor

Requirements: Must be good working with children and families; familiar with the beliefs and practices of The United Methodist Church; open to the social progressive stance of Lakewood UMC; have a background in childhood education and/or experience in working with children and families; a knowledge of, and experience in, Christian spiritual formation is preferred.

Hours per week: 20

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct weekly "Messy Church," establishing weekly and monthly themes

• Plan and conduct other weekly, special and seasonal programs and activities for children: Christmas, Lent, Easter, Summer, Music, Special Outings, etc.

• Interact and grow relationships with existing children and their families

• Grow the Children’s Ministry through contacts with friends and families of participants and area schools

• Coordinate with the Pastor regarding those children who are ready for Confirmation, serve as a resource for and assist the Pastor in conducting confirmation classes

• Recruit and train leaders and activity participants for all Children’s ministry programs

• Oversee the purchase, acquisition, distribution, and use of all equipment and supplies (curriculum, snacks, art supplies, etc.)

• Coordinate with Church Secretary for MinistrySafe Certification for all those working with children

• Other duties as directed by the Pastor
