Job Description
The Worship Director is tasked with curating a contemporary atmosphere where the people of our faith community feel welcomed, filled and encouraged to share the love of God with others through worship. This space is uplifting and welcoming to new people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, who experience the movement of the Holy Spirit.
The worship leader is essential to the Grace Chapel staff and faith community. The ideal candidate is a faithful Christian who deeply loves God and others, with a strong desire to draw others closer to Christ through incorporating different musical styles. This is a salaried, half-time position.
Responsibilities
- Create a sense of comradery among the worship team through spiritual leadership
- Coordinate with the A/V team to manage lighting, sound, video and Pro Presenter.
- Updating Planning Center regularly
- Update Cue Sheet for Livestream Coordinator
- Plan, rehearse and lead Sunday worship set
- Organize music and charts for the team, tech and band.
- Collaborate with worship leaders and musicians across Grace Avenue UMC venues
- Recruit and develop volunteer vocalists or worship leaders
- Hire and fill all band positions
- Booking and rehearsing additional instrumentation for special services
- Arrange food and compensation for extra rehearsals/ holiday rehearsals:
- Lent: Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter
- Advent: Christmas Eve
- Attending monthly staff meetings at Grace Chapel (4th Friday) and Grace Avenue UMC (1st Tuesday)
- Weekly worship planning with Pastor and Staff: discuss sermon series, worship order and any special elements to be included in the worship experience
- Assist in leadership of monthly worship meeting on upcoming worship series
- Engage in the life of the church beyond the Sunday morning worship experience
- Assist with the leadership of semi-annual worship planning retreat
- Replace, rehearse and train volunteers to cover all absences
- Other duties as assigned
