Job Description

The Early Learning Center Director is responsible for the well-being of the students, staff and parents at the school as well as the daily operations of the facility. The Director will create a good rapport with both staff and families in order to curate a loving preschool environment where everyone can feel at home.

The Director will also maintain a relationship with the church staff in order to facilitate ministry opportunities between the school and the faith community. The Director reports directly to the Lead Pastor of Grace Chapel.

This position is part time at 30 hours/week (Monday-Friday 8:30-2:30).

Responsibilities

Staffing

  • Fill all necessary staffing positions for the school
  • Conduct continuing education for staff
  • Observe staff daily and provide annual reviews
  • Manage scheduling and subs
  • Administer background checks and fingerprinting
  • Support staff as needed
  • Onboard new staff Paycom

Communication

  • Parent communication through email and monthly newsletters
  • Conferences with parents as needed
  • Attend monthly Grace Chapel staff meetings to insure good church to school communication and cooperation
  • Keep Lead Pastor informed of school needs, celebrations, activities, etc.
  • Lead tours for interested families
  • Ensure church staff has updated information for the website
  • Lead Parent Orientation at the beginning of the school year
  • Update and maintain the ELC Facebook page
  • Weekly communication with staff

Licensing

  • Maintain current on all minimum standards related to childcare programs within the state of Texas
  • Notify families and/or change policies if standards change
  • Meet with licensing rep when they show up for their unannounced visits
  • Maintain annual responsibilities as they pertain to fees, reporting, etc.

Administration

  • Maintain budget, financial records for tuition and fees
  • Deposit payments to Grace Chapel/Grace Avenue
  • Answer emails and phone calls
  • Inventory supplies
  • Create Parent/Student handbook
  • Change/update policies as needed
  • Set school calendar (currently following Denton ISD for holidays/closures)
  • Set schoolwide schedules for classes, specials, calendar, etc.
  • Facilitate registration process
  • Research and/or provide curriculum support for staff
  • Administer payroll in conjunction with the business office
  • Maintain required 30 hours of annual director training
  • Attend summer director training through DECCE

Daily/Weekly Responsibilities

  • Ensure rooms are ready at the start of each day
  • Greet families at drop-off and pick-up
  • Shop for snacks and classroom supplies
  • Review lessons plans submitted by teachers
  • Lead weekly Chapel

Other Responsibilities

  • Schedule school events such as Pumpkin Patch field trip, class parties, Thanksgiving feast, picture day, Splash Day, etc.
