Job Description

The Director of Modern Worship designs and implements modern worship experiences and expressions for Grace Avenue UMC in collaboration with the Modern Worship pastoral team. These expressions will be aligned with the church’s mission to eradicate homelessness in whatever form it presents itself. Currently, worship consists of a 9:30 a.m. Livestream/online-only service and an 11 a.m. in-person experience.

Responsibilities

Lead worship + music in Modern services
Choose songs, create charts, prepare backing tracks (iPad) for worship services
Work with the Tech team lead to create the atmosphere of the space (visual, audio, lighting, simple architecture)
Recruit and coordinate paid and volunteer band members for worship
Direct weekly rehearsals with the band
Develop healthy relationships with the congregation
Authentically share your faith journey

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience planning, preparing, and leading worship services
Proficiency with all Microsoft Applications and planning software (Planning Center Online)
Ability to play guitar or piano along with vocal talent
Track record of teaching + leading instrumentalists and singers
