Job Description

This is a part-time position that is supervised by the Director of Music and Worship. The pay is $30-40 per hour with a guaranteed 6 hours per week.

Promote the spiritual life of the congregation through the music ministry.
Provide piano accompaniment for the congregation and choir during Sunday morning worship services at 8:45 am and 10:45 am and at Wednesday evening choir rehearsals. Musical offerings on Sunday may include hymns, anthems, special music, solos, prelude, offertory, postlude, recessional, response, communion music, and on special occasions, possibly cantatas.
Weekly rehearsal (approximately 90 minutes) with music team at a time to be determined in consultation with the Director of Music Ministries and other musicians.
Meet with the Director of Music regularly (approximately weekly) to discuss calendar and worship preparations. These meetings will be brief and may be held on Sundays to avoid requiring extra travel.
Attend occasional staff planning meetings.

It is required that the Accompanist be able to play the piano above a basic and intermediate level of skill.
It is required that the Accompanist must be able to read music.
Preferred college degree in music, whether that is music minor or major. Experience may substitute for education.
Have at least two (2) year of experience accompanying for worship or a comparable ensemble.

Ability to work all Sundays, and holidays that fall on Sunday and all church observed holy days/events.
Knowledge of the United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing.
Ability to be flexible with changing music assignments and responsibilities.
