Job Description

First United Methodist Church of Royse City is committed to offering high quality, ministry to our youth (middle school grades 7-8 and high school grades 9-12). This person will help support and strengthen this ministry in the rapidly growing Royse City area. The youth in our community are not only the future, but the present. They are a part of our family ministries and are recognized as leaders in their own right.

Part time: 25 hours

Reports to:  Sr. Pastor/SPRC

Duties

  • Plan, schedule and implement programming and activities for middle school and high school
  • Coordinate occasional outings, mission trips and connectional events
  • Recruit, develop, and nurture youth leadership
  • Make sure all volunteers have background checks and are Ministry Safe trained
  • Coordinate and organize fundraising opportunities for mission events
  • Create and evaluate youth ministry budget
  • Provide quarterly report for Senior Pastor and Church Council review.
  • Promote and communicate about youth activities using a variety of platforms (social media, website, bulletin, email etc.)
  • Coordinate youth retreats, and lock-ins
  • Participate in Conference activities: camps, conference events
  • Have some participation and leadership in confirmation activities
  • Participate in church planning, staff development and celebration events
  • Engage all generations of the church in the life of the youth group (through participation in school events, social media, casual conversations, formal/informational gathers, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

Evaluation     

  • Annual written performance reviews are done for all staff members, to ensure that each staff member has opportunity to receive feedback on job performance
  • All employees of First United Methodist Church of Royse City are subject to a 90-day probationary period and an annual evaluation during the month of August

This job description provides a framework for the position.  Specific areas and tasks to be addressed will be identified through goals and objectives set with the Lead Pastor and the SPRC committee periodically throughout the year.
